Scott A. Scheffler, born on September 11, 1958, passed away on June 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, warmth, and dedication to those he loved. His journey through life was marked by strong family ties, deep relationships, and steadfast character that will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.

Scott is survived by his loving wife of 29 and half years, Claudia Scheffler, whose partnership with Scott brought about many meaningful moments and enduring love. Scott was the beloved brother of Brett (Barbara) Kersey and Allison W. Schrieber, his connection to them rooted in shared memories and unwavering support. His extended family was blessed by his presence as a loving uncle to Amber Kersey, Jessica Kinsey, Melody Roach, Dallas B. Kersey, Jack Schrieber, and Kevin Schrieber, each of whom will remember his encouragement and kindness. Scott’s gentle spirit touched the lives of his great-nieces and nephews —Chloe Harlamort, Kaelynne Thomas, Kiley Thomas, Tara Thomas, George Riley Baker, Kitai Thomas, and Forest Patrick Kersey—who will carry forward his legacy of warmth. He is also fondly remembered by cousins Amy Leenerts, Shane Hendrix Schumacher, and Kimberly Hendrix Schmid, as well as their supportive spouses, John Leenerts and Albert.

Though he is gone, Scott joins those who went before him: his father, Ronald Scheffler, and his mother, Sharon Kersey, whose love shaped the man he became.

Scott’s life, though private in many ways, was extended through the strong connections with his family, reflecting the deep respect and affection they held for him and he for them. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his ability to listen, and the sincerity he brought into each relationship. The stories shared, laughter recalled, and wisdom given will serve as lasting reminders of his enduring influence. Scott faithfully served as a minister and music director with Christ's Open Door, where he shared his faith, offered compassion, and dedicated himself to serving others. Scott had a lifelong passion for music and computers, finding joy in both the melodies that moved him and the technology that inspired his curiosity and creativity.

Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Scott’s life at services scheduled on July 2, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Afterward, a graveside service will be held from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Floydsburg Cemetery, 5600 Old Floydsburg Road, Crestwood, KY 40014.

Scott A. Scheffler’s memory will remain within the hearts of those who love him, and his story will continue in the lives of all who call him family. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the enduring love that defined his life.
