Scott Matthew Powers, 39, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020. He had a mechanical mind and was capable of fixing anything. Scott was full of laughter, caring and always sensitive to the needs of others. He was an animal lover and was artistic and enjoyed anything to do with lions.
A Christian by faith, Scott attended Graceland School from kindergarten to the sixth grade and Restoration Christian in the eleventh grade. He belonged to Happy Church in Jeffersonville and had been active in two different youth groups run by Steve Schoch. After graduation, Scott became a cadet for the Civil Air Patrol. He also attended ITT Tech and Ivy Tech, where he studied electronics.
He was born on April 27, 1981, in Louisville, Kentucky. Scott is survived by his parents, Ancil Powers (Sherry) and April Forbis (Brad); son, Kayden Powers; sister, Krista Powers; grandmother, Mary Pauline Sullivan; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 10:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Borden, Indiana.
Contributions in Scott's memory may be made to the family in care of the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
