Scott Samuel Blackwood passed away on October 11, 2020. Born September 21, 1950 to Martin and Mary Blackwood in Topeka, Kansas. Scott Samuel Blackwood married Phyllis Ray on August 12, 1972. They resided in Louisville, KY for over 30 years. Their children, Christy Lynn Stonis (Jon Stonis) and Paul Martin Blackwood (Paula Blackwood) have been the light of his life. Grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan and Rachel have given Scott so much joy with their visits and accomplishments.

Scott graduated from Conant High School, Schaumburg, IL in 1968. He received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC. In college, Scott was a member of Delta Theta Pi. Scott worked at United States Gypsum, Kroger, Home Depot and Kay Jewelers. He was a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY. He was a volunteer at Operation Appreciation, a ministry to the Ft. Knox Soldiers, for many years. He currently was working with Metro Christian Legal Aid. Scott's devotion was to the Lord and he served Him at every opportunity.

He is predeceased by his father, Martin Samuel Blackwood.

Survivors are his wife, Phyllis; his children, Christy Lynn (Blackwood) Stonis (Jon) and Paul Martin Blackwood (Paula); his grandchildren, Ashley Stonis, Jonathan Stonis, and Rachel Stonis; his mother, Mary Blackwood from McKinney, TX; his sister, Janet Schreiner (Rick) from McKinney, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private and Scott will be laid to rest at Floydsburg Cemetery, 5600 Old Floydsburg Rd, Crestwood, KY 40014.
Arrangements are being handled by Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville Chapel, 502-245-0095.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Metro Christian Legal Aid, PO Box 9585, Louisville, KY 40209, 502-309-9039. This is a wonderful ministry that offers legal aid and advice to those in need. Scott and Phyllis volunteered for several years in Louisville with this ministry.
