Schmon Mildred Gibson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and radiant spirit, peacefully passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on November 23, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, Schmon was a beacon of love and devotion, cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
A devoted wife for 37 years, Schmon shared a profound bond with her husband, Willie Gibson. Together, they navigated the mysteries of life, united by their passion for the unknown as Spiritual Investigators. Schmon shone brightly as the co-host of their television show, “Spiritual Gifts and Wonders,” for twelve memorable years, a testament to her loving, bubbly personality and infectious laugh. Her perfect smile could light up any room, and her presence brought immeasurable joy to those around her.
Schmon found fulfillment in her many hobbies and interests. She had a deep passion for singing and songwriting, using her creativity to express the love she held within. She also enjoyed drawing and cooking, often bringing her family together around the dinner table, where laughter and warmth mingled with the aroma of her delicious meals.
She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to thrive through her family. Schmon is survived by her loving husband, Willie; her children, Theresa Moses, Scott Nevitt, Jay Lesnak and Kathy (Charles) Arnold. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren: Charlie Vance, Lucas Vance, Ashley Parker, Makaylah Arnold, and Belle Arnold. Schmon's legacy extends further to her great-grandchildren, Cora Vance, Esme Vance, Joshua Parker, Lottie Parker, and Sophia Parker, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit.
Schmon will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories of her warmth and kindness. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mattie Simpson, alongside her granddaughter Chyann Nevitt, and her son-in-law Mike Moses. Schmon also grieves the loss of her beloved siblings: Vickie Miller, Robert Simpson, Jerry Simpson, and Jeanine Deason.
A visitation will be held to honor her magnificent life on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Southwest Louisville, followed by a Celebration of Life on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the same location, she will then be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
