Sara Carvice (Cook) Peevey, of New Albany, Indiana was called home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. She was born on December 31, 1920 in Campbell County, Georgia to Robert and Bessie Cook. Sara retired from retail sales at The White House department store in New Albany, IN. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW #3281, in New Albany, Indiana and enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Along with her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Peevey Jr. and brother, Herbert Cook. She is survived by her children, Nan Gillenwater (C.M. "Connie"), Cathy Patus, 3 grandchildren, Lisa Carvis (Lincoln Crum), Jeff Gillenwater (Karen), Matt Patus(Jess), 2 great-grandchildren, Shannon Spray and Ethan Spray, great-great-grandchildren, Amiah and Addison, niece, Jane Harkins and sister-in-law, Gladys Carter.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 4 to 7 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150).

The family would like to give a heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all the staff at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany, Indiana for the loving care and compassion provided to Sara and her family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to New Albany/ Floyd County Animal Rescue Shelter, 215 West Market, New Albany,IN 47150.
