Sandra L. Marrufo, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Louisville on August 22, 1950, Sandi lived a life marked by kindness, warmth, and a generous spirit that touched those around her.
A 1968 graduate of Southern High School, Sandi carried through life a lively mind and a deep enjoyment of simple pleasures. She loved working crossword puzzles and reading books, pastimes that reflected both her curiosity and her thoughtful nature. She was also a devoted sports fan, cheering faithfully for UofL and the Baltimore Ravens.
Known affectionately as Sandi, she brought joy to others with her laughter and her love of cooking. She loved all animals and had a heart of gold, always ready to help someone in need. Among the blessings of her life, one of her proudest joys was watching her nieces and nephews grow up, a source of lasting happiness and love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilberto Marrufo; parents, James and Iva Thomas; grandparents, and her niece, Holly Kestler and nephew-in-law- Eric Kestler.
Sandi leaves behind to cherish her memories, her sister, Kathy Dean; nieces, Hanna, Mallory, Demi and Calaia; nephews, Nicholas, Lukas and Tyler; brother, James Thomas and her fur babies.
Sandi will be remembered for her caring nature, her sense of humor, and the comfort of her presence. Her life was a gift to those who knew her, and her memory will be held with affection and gratitude.
