Craig (Lemke), Sandra S., 75, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, March 18, 2016 at Hosparus Care Center, in Louisville KY surrounded by her loved ones after a brave long battle with COPD and Congestive Heart Failure.
She was born in Decatur, IL on September 18, 1940, to the late Verner and Virginia (Collins) Lemke.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and James Lemke, and daughter, Kimberly Craig Thornberry.
Sandy better known to her grandkids as, Granny and Grams to some of the older ones. She loved being surrounded by and spending time with her family, loved salt water taffy and playing chicken foot. She was a fan of Chicago Cubs baseball, Da Bears football, and Kentucky Wildcats basketball.
She is survived by three daughters, Pam Abbott (Ken), of Las Vegas, NV, Billie-Jo Johnson (Mike Kelly), Jamie Chadwell (Al) both of Louisville, KY; 10 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 10 great-grandsons and 9 great-granddaughters; two sisters, Mary Fischer and Pat Lemke both of Gibson City, IL; and many nieces and Nephews. She was blessed to have been taken care of by two of her grandchildren, William (Wes) Decker and Taylor Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 3 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home-Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272). A funeral service to honor the life of Sandy will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the funeral home.
