Samuel Charles Waddell

June 25, 1939 — December 6, 2017

Samuel Charles Waddell, 78, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Treyton Oak Towers. Sam, as he was better known, was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on June 25, 1939, to the late Samuel A. and Jewel Waddell. The eldest of four, Sam left Greensboro to pursue a career in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve. In addition to serving in the Air Force Reserve, Sam worked for General Electric until his retirement.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Gough Waddell and brothers, Jimmie and Eugene.

Sam is survived by his sister, Peggie J. Waddell; niece, Karen Sidberry; grand-nephew, Gregory A. Gadson; paternal aunt, Elfredia Mason and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral Ceremony will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1057 South 28th Street with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation will precede services from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements under the direction of Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel.
