Samuel Anthony Bowling, "Sam", 76, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on September 30, 2016.
Sam was born on November 24, 1939, in Kokomo, Indiana to the late John Bowling and Nellie Gettys.
Sam worked in the construction industry for awhile, until he later went to college and taught high school students. He then became a professor at the University of Louisville and enjoyed his teaching career.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzann "Suzy" Bowling; children, Josh Bowling, John K. Bowling and Darnell Newton; and one grandson, Tommy Newton.
A celebration of Sam's life will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (9616 Westport Road, Louisville, KY 40241).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite cancer or animal charity in loving memory of Sam.
