Sammye Jo (Daily) Barnes, 78, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021. She was the former owner of Cakes by Sammye.
She was born on August 6, 1943, in Covington, Kentucky, to Samuel and Rose (Sorrell) Daily. Sammye is survived by her husband of 57 years, Barry Barnes; children, Kevin Barnes (Debbie) and Kelly Popp; grandchildren, Ryan Barnes, Christian Barnes, Michaela Stoker, Lauren Keene (Sam), and Nathan Wimsatt; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Keene and Lilly Keene; sister, Tena Lutz; and nephew, Donald Lutz (Missy).
She will be entombed privately at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380).
