Sammie Mae Turney

Sammie Mae Turney, 80, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Sammie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, forst and second mother too many and friend to all. 

Sammie Mae Potter was born on September 29, 1944 in Charleston, Missouri to Samuel Potter and Mary Dean. Mary passed away early in life. Sammie Mae and siblings were raised by loving Aunt Lucille Jones and family. She moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and later Louisville, Kentucky where she graduated Jefferson Community College and retired from Dimas House. She is preceded in death by her Father, Samuel Potter (Mabel), Mother, Mary Dean, Husband, Robert E. Phoenix Jr., Grandsons, Daron Betts Jr. and RaShaun Betts Jr., and sister, Martha Mae. 

Sammie is survived by her loving family, Husband, Albert Turney Jr., Daughters, Terri Ewing (Ted), Glenda Oxil (Paul), and Devonna George (Orlando) and sons, Kenneth Phoenix (Alvara), Ronald Phoenix, contrel Phoenix (Tasha) and loving brother, Thomas Potter (Linda). Also, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
