Listen to Obituary

Ruth Harper Warren, 98, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Born on August 22, 1928, in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee, Ruth was the daughter of the late Richard Allen Harper and Ethel Jobe Harper. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joel Milton Warren Sr., as well as five brothers and three sisters. Her long life was marked by devotion to family, steadfast faith, and a gracious spirit that left a lasting impression on those who knew and loved her.

Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Charlotte High School in Dickson County, Tennessee. In 1949, she married “Milton,” a Navy veteran, in Nashville, beginning a marriage rooted in love and partnership. She was a member of Trinity Lane Church of Christ, and, in her working years, retired from Donelson Hospital, where she served as a patient medical insurance advocate. In that role, she offered help and understanding to many, bringing care and compassion to work that mattered deeply to the people she served.

At the heart of Ruth’s life was her family. She loved Milton, loved her boys, and loved her big family with all her heart. She is survived by her sons, Joel Warren and his wife Beth, Charlie Warren and his wife Sandy, and Robert Warren and his wife Kim. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and twenty nieces and nephews, all of whom carry forward the memory of her warmth, strength, and abiding love. Her family was her joy, and the bonds she nurtured over the years will remain one of her most enduring legacies.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. CST on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens (1150 Dickerson Rd. Goodlettsville, TN).

Ruth Harper Warren will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude—for a life well lived, for the love she gave so freely, and for the family she cherished so completely.
