Ruth Elaine (Tackett) Rainbolt, 63, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 25, 2017. She was a proud homemaker who loved caring for her loved ones, especially her dogs.

Ruth was born on November 5, 1953, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Herman C., Sr., and Lottie (Johnson) Tackett. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alva "Chippy" Rainbolt; brothers and sisters; and a step-grandson.

She is survived by her companion and caregiver, Tony Smith; stepchildren, Todd Rainbolt, Stephanie Griffin, Brittany Smith-McDole, and Justin Smith; step-father-in-law, Bill Smith; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild; niece, Laura Beth Tackett; and several nieces and nephews who live out of state.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at a later date at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Borden.
