Ruth Anna Newton

Ruth Anna Newton, 99, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday, September 11, 2021. She was raised in East Point, KY with 7 brothers and 5 sisters. She graduated from Prestonsburg HS in Prestonsburg, KY. At 17 she moved to Louisville for work and met the love of her life (Corbin) and had 3 children Scotty, Gary and Dinah. She worked at Stewarts Downtown for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved caring for her roses, cooking Christmas dinners, ELVIS and betting the horses.

She was born on February 10, 1922 in Watergap, Kentucky to Christopher and Minnie (Sizemore) DeRossett. She is preceded in death by her father, Christopher Columbus "Lum" DeRossett, mother, Minnie Lee DeRossett, husband, Corbin Newton, son, Gary L. Newton, Sr., brothers and sisters, Joe, Alki, Fred, T.J., Velva, Victoria, Hillard, Chris, and Theodore and grandsons, Larry Wayne Newton and Donnie Ray Newton.

Ruth is survived by her loving family, children, Scotty (Donna) Newton and Dinah Newton (Carl); grandchildren, Gary (Courtney) , Jr., Michelle, Leslie (Jessie), Sherry (Anson), Brittany, and Brian (Lesha); 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; her wonderful sister, Virginia (Eugene) Whitt, and brother, Claude (Saundra) Osborne.

Visitation will be private immediate family only from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, Kentucky.
