Ruth Lorine (Clifton) Mcafee

Ruth Lorine (Clifton) McAfee, (92), of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019. Ruth was a member of the Mt. Tabor Church of Christ in Ramsey, Indiana. She was born on January 21, 1927, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James and Alice May (Dowing) Clifton. Ruth married George Baker McAfee on November 27, 1947. They were married 70 years. Together they had 5 children: Robert (Lois) McAfee, Stanley (Ann) McAfee, Barry (Doni Ann) McAfee, Bev (Joe) Sprecher, and Greg (Barbara) McAfee.

She had 15 grandchildren: Kyle, Matt (Trish), Josh (Amanda), Tessa (Tim) Kaiser, Brian (Lora), Brad (Jaime), Chad (Fargol), Daniel, Derek (Khirsten), Andrea (Mike) Thomas, Leslie (Terry) Elder, Jeremy (Kirsten) Sprecher, Kellie (Justin) Foreman, Chris, Joey (Katie).
She also had 44 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend to everyone she met. She never met a stranger. Ruth was a former member of the lady choir, Sweet Adeline. She was a seamstress, caregiver, and housewife. She worked at Beta Shoe Company in Paoli, RCA plant in Orleans, and M.Fines & Sons in New Albany from which she retired. She enjoyed singing church hymns. She loved having her family around and getting as many hugs and kisses from them as possible. She loved working in her flower beds and getting dressed up to go out to eat. She always had a beautiful smile that matched her personality.

Visitation will be from 9AM to 2 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions- New Albany. Her funeral service will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mt. Tabor Church of Christ Cemetery in Ramsey, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in Ruth's memory be made to American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
