Russell Chester Denison, 93, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on July 19, 2017. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II. Russell retired from American Standard and was a long-time member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was very social and outgoing. He loved being outdoors and camping with his family. Russell was so caring and always enjoyed serving others.
Russell was born on January 5, 1924, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Charles and Maude (Jones) Denison. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Connie L. Taylor; and brothers, Richard, Clifford, Charles, and Larry Denison.
Russell is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rosemary (Mivelaz) Denison; sons, Russell "Rusty" Denison (Debra) and Scott Denison (Angela); brother, Lynn Denison; grandchildren, Brittany Bierly (Steven), Ryan Denison (Caitlin), Matthew Denison, Mallory Setty (Adam), Caitlin Sutherland (Brian), and Andrew Taylor; great-grandchildren, Brandon Bierly, Isabel Bierly, Nathan Bierly, Jason Bierly, Hayes Setty, Zoe Sutherland, and Adeline Denison.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana) and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday. His Funeral Ceremony will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Russell's name may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
