Ruby Jean Brown, 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021. Ruby loved her family and especially her grans and great-grans. Her favorite past time was playing pitty pat, dominos, and keno. She completed her education at Memphis City Schools. After her parents passing she moved to Chicago to live with her aunt Catherine and uncle Lee Ross. She worked at Sara Lee and retired after 23 years of faithful service. She attended Quinn Chapel AME for many years. She will truly be missed by every person that had the pleasure and honor to meet her.
She was born on October 19, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee to A.D. and Clara (Hayman) Cooks. She is preceded in death by her parents, A.D. Cooks and Clara Haymon Cooks; husband, Ernest Brown; siblings, Classie Mae Cooks, James "Billy" Cooks Sr., Melvin Cooks, Juanita Cooks, and Delois Cooks; son-in-law, Aubrey Brandon Sr.
Ruby is survived by her loving family, children, Denorris "Boosie" (Khandi) Cooks, Sr., Brian "Keith" Cooks, Sr., Darryl Keith (Damita) Jones, Kathy L. Cooks, Delois "Angel" Brandon, and DeAndre "DJ" (Pam) Brown; grandchildren, Tiffany, Tommie, Jerome, Katia, Carvell, Denorris , Jr., Darius, Brittanie, Carisma, ExZavier, Faron, Aubrey , Jr., DeAngelo, and Nala; great-grandchildren, DaVonte, D'Varius, K'Lynn, Chanya, Brooklyn, Reign, and Jaelani. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 6:00 pm on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
