Roy Franklin "Frankie" Hawkins, 94, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Born on April 28, 1931, in Gratz, Kentucky, he was the son of Roy and Fannie (Leake) Hawkins.
Frankie proudly served in the United States Army and was a long-standing member of the Bunker Hill Christian Church. His commitment to community was evident through his membership in the Masonic Lodge #631 and American Legion Post #204. Frankie devoted over 30 years of his professional life to Kroger, where he was actively involved with Teamsters Local 89, exemplifying his work ethic and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Emma (Cloyd) Hawkins, his parents, and his siblings: Thomas Hawkins, Mary Stivers, Victoria Hawkins, B.M. Hawkins, Ella Bennette, Daphne Edwards, Myra Smoot, and Lindsey Hawkins.
Frankie is survived by his children, Roy "Mike" Hawkins (Karen), Deborah Wilkerson (Jerry), Sandy Carter (Bob), and Clinton Hawkins. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Sara Stevens, along with grandchildren, Lyric, Justin (Carolyn), Jenny, Shavonne, James, Misty (Justin), Melony (Chris), Nathaniel (Candis), Lindsey, Butler (Natalie), Mallory (Ryan), Riley (Lydia); great-grandchildren, Carma, Devonny, Jeremiah, Malachi, Rowan, Jonah, Zoey, Trenton, Amontae, Xavier, Brooklyn, Kyle, Tamia; and great-great-grandchildren, Graham and Miles.
Frankie's life will be celebrated with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. His funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial and military honors to take place at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Memphis.
