Listen to Obituary

Rosella Stewart passed away on October 24, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on April 8, 1948, she lived a life marked by determination, devotion to family, and a quiet but unmistakable strength.

Rosella built a meaningful career in the medical field for over 50 years, serving first as a CNA and later as an administrator handling pre-certifications at University of Louisville Hospital. Her work reflected both diligence and care, and she brought commitment to each role she held. She also valued education and earned her degree from Jefferson Community College, an accomplishment that spoke to her perseverance and desire to continue building a life of purpose.

Outside of work, Rosella found joy in the comforts and pleasures of everyday life. She loved cooking and trying new recipes from her cookbooks, and she enjoyed watching television and shopping at Macy’s. She was strong-willed and very private, someone who wanted to fit in yet preferred to keep much of herself quietly guarded. She did not enjoy having her picture taken, but those who knew her understood that her presence was felt far more deeply than any photograph could capture. She especially enjoyed the holidays and treasured family get-togethers, times that brought warmth, connection, and happiness to her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Clorine Stewart; her father, Reed Stewart, Sr.; her sisters, Martha Williams, Mary Williams, Joyce Stiles, Florence Bowe, and Elva Foster; and her brothers, Homer Williams, William Williams, and Reed Stewart, Jr. Their memories remained part of the story she carried throughout her life.

Rosella leaves behind a loving circle of nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection: her nieces Janette Pogues, Belinda Smith, Denise Bowe-Carpenter, Tina Bowe, and Karen Pressley; and her nephews Larry Stewart, Michael Stewart, and Edward Bowe, Jr. along with a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. In their lives, her memory will continue in the shared bonds of family, in holiday gatherings, and in the many small remembrances that keep a beloved presence near.
