Rose L. O'Neil, a cherished wife, mother, and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. Born on November 25, 1961, Rose's life was a testament to love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to family.
Rose was a proud stay-at-home wife and mother whose family was her entire world. Her marriage to Thomas O’Neil II spanned an inspiring forty-six years, reflecting her deep well of love, compassion, patience, and steadfast dedication. She was known for her warm smile and bright personality that could light up any room, bringing joy and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Having a strong faith and a close relationship with God, Rose lived her life to the fullest. She found delight in traveling, playing bingo, and spending treasured time with friends and family. As a generous hostess, she always ensured there was enough to feed her neighborhood, embodying acceptance and love in every gesture. Those who knew Rose understood her as a beacon of kindness and a steadfast pillar of support-a true mother and friend to many.
Rose’s proudest accomplishments extended far beyond her role within the family; she made a positive impact on every person she met. Her dedication as a mother, wife, friend, and active community member left a lasting legacy. Now having earned her angel wings, she is remembered as a guardian angel watching over those she loved.
She is survived by her mother, Virginia Grider; her beloved husband, Thomas O’Neil II; her children, Thomas O’Neil III (Shannon O’Neil) and Chelsey O’Neil; her grandchildren, Landen O’Neil and Alexa O’Neil; her treasured grand-dog, Vienna; and her brothers, Ricky Grider, Luther Grider, and Buddy Grider, along with many other family members and friends who will dearly miss her presence.
Rose was preceded in death by her father, Richard Grider; her in-laws, Thomas and Jean O’Neil; and her granddaughter, Ava O’Neil.
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150, on Friday, June 5, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Rose’s remarkable life in the warmth of shared remembrance.
Rose L. O'Neil’s spirit, love, and light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as an enduring example of love, faith, and generosity.
