It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Rose Nixon, of Louisville Kentucky on September 23, at the age of 82 years. After weeks of fighting, Rose lost her fight to pancreatic cancer
Rose Nixon was beloved by many. She was the type of person who touched the heart of every person she met. To many she was known as a friend, to her husband she was known as a soulmate, to her two sons she was known as a loving mother, to her grandchildren she was known as "the best grandma you could ask for", but on top of all of that, she was known as a great person. In a broken world, Rose stood out amongst many with her pure heart and beautiful soul. She was born to be a light for others. As a child she grew up with no siblings, so she improvised, she started playing with the family across the street and that was when she met her soulmate. Of course she didn't see it as that at first but over the years, Lynwood Nixon and Rose became very fond of each other. They claimed the title of "high-school sweethearts" as they started dating at the young age of 15 and went strong for just under 60 years. Together Lyn and Rose built a life together - they traveled the world, settled down and had two sons, Christopher and Timothy Nixon, and even worked together in education. Rose lived a beautiful life with her sons and loving husband.
Soon enough, grandchildren were brought into the picture: Emily and Sarah, who were the daughters of Chris, and Gabby, Emma, Zoey, and Payton, who were the children of Tim and Angela. Although she loved her job as a mother, her true calling in life was to be a grandma. She had all the qualities a great grandma is typically thought to have: from her list of creative talents, all the way down to her meals that could bring Betty Crocker to tears. She let no time pass without showing her love for everyone around her. With her grandkids, she watched closely as they grew before her eves, taking every chance to make memories that would last a lifetime, whether that be by doing puzzles, baking desserts, watching movies, or even just sitting on the couch and giving foot massages with a side of free life advice. She had a love for life and everyone around her like no other. One of her deepest passions was for shopping as many were aware of. At heart, that woman was a shopaholic. She "shopped til' she dropped", as she would put it, but never with the intention of buying for herself but rather buying mementos for others as a way to show her love and appreciation.
Rosie had a light within her that reflected into the lives of many. Her family members, her friends, her church, her neighbors, and her community altogether were all lucky enough to meet such an amazing woman and It is safe to say that their lives will be forever changed due to the impact Rose had made on their lives. She will be greatly missed but her love will last a lifetime.
