Rose Ann Brooks

August 1, 1951 — April 5, 2025

Ms. Rose Ann Jones Brooks, age 73, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She was born on August 1, 1951, in Springfield, Kentucky (Washington County), to the late Rev. Garfield Sylvester Jones and Mary Cecilia Reed Jones.

Rose was a proud graduate of Washington County Public Schools and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Springfield, KY. In the late 1960’s, she moved to Louisville, KY, where she later married the love of her life, Dwight “Yu” Brooks in 1970. Together they built a life and were blessed with two children, Rozeita and Dwight, Jr. “Mann”.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Rose was employed by the Frito-Lay Company for over 30 years before retiring. Even in retirement, she continued her passion for caring by working part-time at Trading Oaks Nursing Home.

Rose never forgot her roots. She treasured her yearly trips back to Springfield for homecoming celebrations-moments filled with joy, family, and a little fun with her partners in crime beloved childhood friend, Sissy. Whether it was a cookout or Sunday dinner, Rose’s home was always full of warmth, love, and the mouthwatering aroma of her famous pork chips, liver and onions, macaroni and cheese, and greens. Cooking for her family brought her joy, and being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and friends was her greatest blessing.

Rose loved to go out riding around and going somewhere every day. She had a heart of gold-always on the move, always helping others, always loving deeply. Rose was the heartbeat of her family and a bright light in the lives of all who knew her.

Roses leaves to cherish her memory her children, Rozeita (Robert) Bragg and Dwight Eric Brooks, Jr. “Mann”; grandchildren, Avery Wagner, Marley Wagner, Aaliyah Brooks, and Dwight Brooks, III “Lil Man”; siblings, Ann Marie Yocum, Henry Jones, Margaret Steptoe (Thomas), Montez Furman, and Mary Concetta Tanner; brothers-in-law, David Brooks and Bobby Brooks; and step-children and grandchildren, Monique (Mark), Arik, Aryn, Lil Mark, Monae, Serenity, and Xavior. She is also survived by a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
