Rondale DaSean Moore, 25, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
He attended New Albany High School, where he was a part of the 2016 4A Indiana State basketball championship team. During his junior year, Rondale transferred to Trinity High School in Louisville, where he was a four-star football recruit and helped lead the football team to a perfect season and the 2017 Kentucky 6A state championship.
Upon graduation from high school, Rondale committed to play football for Purdue University, where he would eventually graduate in only three years. In his first game for the Boilermakers, Rondale had 313 all-purpose yards and set a new program record. During his freshman season in 2018, he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on four different occasions.
That same year, Rondale was the recipient of the Paul Hornung Award, which is given to the most versatile player in all of college football. He was also named a First-Team All-American by The Athletic, a First-Team All-American by the Associate Press, a First-Team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and a Second-Team All-American by The Sporting News, which made Rondale the first true freshman consensus All-American since 2004.
In 2021, Rondale was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the NFL draft, being the 49th pick overall. During his professional career, Rondale played for the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings.
It was obvious that Rondale was an amazing athlete, but beyond that, he was incredibly thoughtful and cared deeply for his community. Rondale wanted to encourage the youth and took time to contribute to local football camps. Not only did he support the next generation of athletes, he also helped the less fortunate through food drives for the homeless. His impact in New Albany was far reaching.
He was born on June 9, 2000 in New Albany, Indiana to Quincy (Shirley) Ricketts and Ronald Moore. In addition to his parents, Rondale is survived by his sister, Lazandra Shirley; his brothers, Darnell Shirley, Ronald Moore; his nephew, Trenton Terry; as well as many aunties, cousins and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Northside Christian Church, (4407 Charlestown Road, New Albany). His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, at Northside Christian Church with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
