Ronald "Ronnie" Edward Richards Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away in his sleep at home on October 7, 2026. Born on August 8, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, Ronnie was the cherished son of Leo and Mildred (Whitfill) Richards. His life was a testament to love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to family and community.

Ronnie was blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Paula Jesse Richards, whom he married on August 19, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky. Their marriage was a beautiful journey filled with cherished moments, whether working side by side, traveling, or enjoying weekends at the lake and at home by the pool with family and friends.

He was the proud father of four children: Lisa Marie Ruhs (Greg), Mary Laura Geyman (Mark), Ronald Edward Richards Jr., and Cynthia Lynn Beck (Matt). Ronnie's legacy continues through his nine grandchildren: Justin Richards, Jordan Richards, Matthew Beck, Adrienne Geyman, Madeline Beck, Jonathan Richards, Zacaurey Geyman (Christine), Macauley Beck, and Abigail Ruhs, as well as his six great-grandchildren: Alonzo, Palmer, Jonathan Jr., Berlin, Alani, and Jenson. His siblings, sister Sue Wermeister and brother Mark Richards (Allison), along with brother-in-law Caroll Brown, also survive him.

Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Beverly Brown and Julie Douglas, and brothers-in-law Robert "Bob" Wermeister and Allen Douglas. Despite these losses, he remained a pillar of strength and warmth to those around him.

A graduate of the historic Flaget High School in Louisville, Ronnie was an accomplished athlete who played varsity football. After high school, he worked for Richards Roofing and served his apprenticeship with the Sheet Metal Workers Local 110. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit, Ronnie co-founded Richards-Klein Sheet Metal Fabricators, Inc. with his partner John Klein, running the business successfully from 1970 until 2017.

A devout Catholic, Ronnie was an active member of Saint Albert the Great Catholic Church for over 25 years, where he formed many lasting friendships and was known for his dedication and faith.

Ronnie's interests reflected his zest for life. He loved spending time at Rough River Lake, boating, golfing, and grilling out for his family. He delighted in playing darts, cards, and taking golf cart rides with his grandchildren. A passionate supporter of the Louisville Cardinals, Ronnie's quick wit and warm smile endeared him to all who knew him. His kindness and generosity were boundless, and he had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued.
