Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Reed, 75, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019, at his home. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran and Drill Instructor. Ronnie was a 1962 graduate of Corydon High School where he was part of the basketball team's semi-state run. He had a career that included working at International Harvester, Naval Ordinance, and also Lincoln Boyhood Home National Park.
He enjoyed working with his hands and was mechanically inclined. Ronnie had the ability to fix anything and was proud to have built his family's home place. He was a former volunteer for the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department and always enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was born on May 3, 1944, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Ernest and Berneda (Schindler) Reed. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald and Douglas Reed.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary (Huth) Reed; children, Brian Reed (Jenny) and Rhonda Reed; brothers, Allen and Glenn Reed; and grandchildren, Christian and Emily Reed (fiancé, Levi Meyers).
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 11:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
