Ronald Paul Dunlap

Ronald "Pete" Paul Dunlap, 68, of Smithfield, Kentucky went Home to the Lord on November 19, 2015. He retired from Jefferson County Police and LaGrange City Police Departments and was a member of Southeast Christian Church. He was an U.S. Navy veteran and served in Vietnam. Pete was a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve and served with the Aviation 100th Division (Tng). He was a member of the FOP (River City Lodge) #614 and a Member At Large of the VFW. Pete was a graduate of Bellevue University with a BS in Police Administration.

Ronald was born on April 30, 1947, Louisville, Kentucky to the late William and Mary (Cundiff) Dunlap. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Patrick L. Dunlap.

Ronald is survived by his wife of years 28, Grace D. (Heckard) Dunlap; children, Kristine Midwood (Ronald), Stephanie Parsons (Jim), Amanda Heckard; the K-9 love of his life, Sadie; grandchildren, Danielle N. Dunlap, Dalton McIntosh, Austin McIntosh, Greyson L. Kline; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Midwood, Jessie Midwood, Michael Parsons, and Justin Parsons; great-grandchildren, Joel Rodriquez Jr. and Ray Parsons; sisters, Judy A. Seale of Louisville, KY and Lisa M. Stoutt of Coxs Creek, KY; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville) and on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Southeast Christian Church (920 Blankenbaker Pkwy, Louisville, KY) in the Fireside Room. His Funeral Ceremony will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Southeast Christian Church with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery (701 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204).
