Ronald Allen Moeller

Ronald Allen Moeller, 72, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was a life member of the 75th Ranger Regiment Association and member of FOP#99. Ron was a shareholder of the Green Bay Packers football team, past member of the Harvest Homecoming Committee, and received the Order of the Pumpkin award. He was also a member of the Floyd County Democrat Men's Club and a 1991 graduate of the Indianapolis Police Academy.

Ron entered the United States Army immediately following high school. He served with LRP/LRRP teams and L Co/ K Co Rangers during multiple tours in Vietnam. His 20 years of service included tours in South Korea and Panama, as well as multiple other duty stations. He retired as a 1st Sergeant with multiple commendations. Awards and decorations include Bronze Star with V (Valor), 3 Purple Hearts, 3 Air Medals, 1 Air Medal with V, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with palm, and several others. Ron attended Sniper School, Ranger Training Course (Vietnam), Recondo School (Vietnam), Jungle Training and Survival Course, Airborne School, Non-Commissioned Officers Academy and First Sergeants Course, and Drill Sergeant School.

Following his military career, he worked for Floyd County Prosecutor Stanley O. Faith for several years before working for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in New Albany. He retired from the Postal Service while working as a Supervisor at the Gardiner Lane Plant in Louisville.

He was born on July 30, 1949, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to the late Arthur and Rose (Wall) Moeller. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Deanna Summers; and brothers-in-law, Casey Heaster, Chuck Summers, and Paul Bilski.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Moeller; daughter, Catherine (Che) Moeller-Cunanan; son, Allen (Vanessa) Moeller; grandson, Knox Moeller; siblings, Dawn Heaster, Roger (Shirley) Moeller, Mary Bilski, Art (Cindy) Moeller, Ann (Tim) Burke, Dee (Joe) Belongia, John (Nancy) Moeller, and JoAnn (Phil) Leapard.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A brief service will follow at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Ron will be laid to rest with full military honors at New Albany National Cemetery at a later date.
