Ronald "Ronnie" Eugene Grantz, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on September 8, 1936, in New Albany, Indiana.
Ronnie proudly served his country, retiring after 33 dedicated years in the Army National Guard. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career, as he was actively involved in his community. A faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, Indiana, he participated in various church activities and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus in New Albany. Ronnie had a passion for volunteering, particularly at the Franciscan Shelter House's soup kitchen, where he extended kindness and compassion to those in need. Professionally, he retired after a long career in selling welding supplies. His love for fishing was a cherished pastime, offering him peace and joy.
In his personal life, Ronnie was blessed with a loving family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet Grantz; his children, Steven (Carolyn) Grantz, Trent (Janet) Grantz, Eddie (Renee) LaDuke, Casey LaDuke (Allison Juliot), and Ellen (David) Smith. Ronnie’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jenna (Madison) Job, Jared Grantz, Rachel (Joe) Clark, Brent LaDuke, Sydney LaDuke, and Amber Smith; as well as great-grandchildren, Olivia Clark and Elaina Clark, with two more on the way. Ronnie is also survived by his sister, Rose McCartin.
