Ronald "Ronnie" Eugene Grantz

September 8, 1936 — July 3, 2025

Borden, Indiana

Ronald "Ronnie" Eugene Grantz, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on September 8, 1936, in New Albany, Indiana.

Ronnie proudly served his country, retiring after 33 dedicated years in the Army National Guard. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career, as he was actively involved in his community. A faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, Indiana, he participated in various church activities and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus in New Albany. Ronnie had a passion for volunteering, particularly at the Franciscan Shelter House's soup kitchen, where he extended kindness and compassion to those in need. Professionally, he retired after a long career in selling welding supplies. His love for fishing was a cherished pastime, offering him peace and joy.

In his personal life, Ronnie was blessed with a loving family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet Grantz; his children, Steven (Carolyn) Grantz, Trent (Janet) Grantz, Eddie (Renee) LaDuke, Casey LaDuke (Allison Juliot), and Ellen (David) Smith. Ronnie’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jenna (Madison) Job, Jared Grantz, Rachel (Joe) Clark, Brent LaDuke, Sydney LaDuke, and Amber Smith; as well as great-grandchildren, Olivia Clark and Elaina Clark, with two more on the way. Ronnie is also survived by his sister, Rose McCartin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Grantz and Agnes Koetter Grantz; his brothers, Maurice "Sonny" Grantz Jr. and Robert Grantz; his sisters-in-law, Marcy Grantz and Roberta Grantz; his brother-in-law, Tom McCartin; and daughter-in-law, Dora LaDuke.

As we remember Ronnie, we cherish the values he instilled in those around him, his devotion to family, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and spirit. His legacy of love and service will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
