Roger Szymansky

December 28, 1919 — October 9, 2017

Roger Szymansky, 97, of Louisville, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017. He was born in Belle Vernon, PA., December 28, 1919 to the late Walter and Victoria Szymansky. Roger was a proud U.S. Army WWII Veteran and retired from G.E. He loved carpentry, fishing, and going on walks in his Okolona neighborhood where he lived for over 50 years.

He is also preceded in death by his step-mother Rachael, brothers, Ed and Quinton, and his son Nick.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 75 years Elizabeth, sisters, Adele DiAndreth, Clara Saitz, and Stella Lane. He is also survived by his son Don (Rikki), daughter Darlene (Jim) and daughter-in-law Martha, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Roger's funeral service will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions Southwest Louisville with burial in Bethany Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday October 13th, 2017 from 4-8pm and again on Saturday from 9am until the time of service.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the VA Medical Hospital or Hosparus of Louisville.
