Roger Daep, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on October 14, 2018. He retired from General Electric as an Engineer and during his retirement he worked for Fed Ex.
Roger was born on September 4, 1938 in Manito Albay, Philippines to the late Pablo Daep, Sr. and Amparo Dayap. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helma Goyena and Adrilina Daep; brother, Alwayne Daep.
John 13:34-35 states: "A new command I give unto you: Love one another...By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. " Roger lived his life as the Bible commanded. He loved, without question and not just in lip service but in all his actions. He would lend a hand, give the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket if someone asked. His life personified his love not only through his actions for others but his love for his family. He loved them beyond measure. After immigrating to the United States, and making a new life for himself, wife and children, he made sure to sponsor his brothers and other family members so they too could have a better life and more opportunity that may not have had in the Philippines. During their transition to life in the United States, many of them lived with Roger and Lita until they were able to venture out on their own. He continued to give to family, friends and total strangers without regret. He gave hope to the hopeless and truly became a father to the fatherless. He took up the mantle and made sure that they had the education they needed, food to eat and clothes to wear. It never occurred to him to ask for anything in return because he lived as he knew Jesus wanted him to live. When others would ask for a lending hand, without thought he would step in to help. He did it all, not for accolades or to collect favors from others, instead, he did these things so he could testify his faith and love of God through his actions. As the Bible states in Philippians 2:3 (NIV) "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves." Late in life, Roger was called to minister. Instead of staying in retirement he, along with his wife, Lita, chose to go back to the Philippines so that they could share the love of Christ to their fellow Filipinos. There he pastored a church, where he was able to help lead many to Christ. We are honored to have had Roger in our lives for as long as we were given. He brought joy, hope, and love to so many. Though his life has come to an end here on earth his legacy continues to shine a light on what it means to truly live for Christ.
I Thessalonians 5:12-13 "Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other."
Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Estelita (Dela Cruz) Daep; children, Christopher Cruz Daep (Mandy), Elizabeth Grace Finerty (Bradley) and Christina Cruz Pavich (Paul); grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Daep, Colton Cruz Finerty, Adelle Grace Finerty, Alyssa Ruth Small (Jimmy), Alexandra Cruz Pavich, Alivia Estelita Pavich, Ava Christina Pavich; sisters, Yolanda Balancio and Marilou Garcia; brothers, Pablo Daep, Jr., Rosario Bautista and Gerry Daep.
