Rodney Wayne Hampton, age 73, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016. He was a retired train conductor with CSX Railroad and a member of Westport Road Baptist Church. Wayne loved travelling, hitchhiked Honduras and loved to golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Glenn and Leona Pickard Hampton.
Wayne is survived by his treasure of 45 years, Gerri; his children, Troy Hampton (Helga) and Tammy Heppner (Scott); grandchildren, Quinlyn Heppner, Kaylon Hampton, Mattie Heppner, and Kanin Hampton; siblings, Glen Rose Ellis, Pat Hampton, Shirley Hampton, Jacki Rankin; Fauntella McVay and Robert Ellis; several nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 2-7pm on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. A celebration of Wayne's life will be 11am Wednesday, June 8th at Westport Road Baptist Church, 9705 Westport Road, Louisville, KY. Burial will follow in Middletown Historic Cemetery.
