Listen to Obituary

With heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life vibrantly lived, we announce the passing of Rodney Disney, who departed this world on August 14, 2026. Born on September 10, 1956, Rodney’s seventy years on earth were marked by boundless enthusiasm, deep devotion to family and friends, and a ceaseless joy in living adventurously.

Rodney’s journey through life echoed with laughter and marked the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. A true jokester at heart, Rodney found delight in the laughter and stories shared among friends and kin, forever cherishing camaraderie and connection. His personality was magnetic—drawing people together, dissolving barriers, and transforming simple gatherings into memorable occasions. His love of karaoke and singing, his infectious humor, and his devotion to those around him remain indelible in memory.

From his youth, Rodney sought out adventure and purpose. Answering the call to serve his country, he served four years in the United States Army and later dedicated a decade of his life to the United States Navy. His unwavering sense of duty and patriotism were matched only by his humility and compassion, qualities he carried long after his years in uniform concluded.

Rodney’s interests were as spirited as his character. He had a longstanding passion for drag racing, which blossomed into cherished memories, particularly as he supported his beloved son Kenny in building and working on his drag car. The racetrack was more than a hobby; it was a space where Rodney built lasting friendships, became part of a close-knit drag racing family, and spent countless hours doing what he loved most—fueling ambition, cultivating skill, and celebrating the thrill of the ride.

Beyond the racetrack, Rodney was an avid collector of firearms, always intrigued by their craftsmanship and history. His love for Western and science fiction movies showcases a mind drawn to tales of adventure, resilience, and imaginative worlds—a reflection, perhaps, of his own spirit.

Family stood at the heart of Rodney’s world. He is lovingly survived by his devoted son, Kenny Disney (Kasey); cherished grandchildren Jasmine, Brandon, Siearra, and Kendrick; adored great-granddaughters Presley, Winonna, and Layla; loyal sisters Tracey and Kim; caring mother of Kenny, Raelene; Kenny's uncles, Tony and Ray; significant other, Karen Callahan; and the many treasured friends in his drag racing family.

Rodney’s legacy is built on memories of deep laughter, steadfast loyalty, and the countless lives he enriched just by being himself. He joins in eternal rest his mother Helen, father Roy, and Kenny's uncle Tom, who predeceased him. Their spirits now reunited, he finds peace among those he cherished, leaving behind a world forever blessed by his presence.

Family and friends are invited to honor Rodney Disney’s life and legacy. A visitation will be held on August 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. Though Rodney’s journey has reached its destination, his memory will forever roar in our hearts, as constant and true as the engines he loved and the friendships he forged. May all who knew him continue to find comfort and laughter in the stories, wisdom, and love he so generously shared.
