Roberta Katherine(Greer) Guffey

Roberta K. "Birdie" (Greer) Guffey, 68, formerly of Memphis, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015. Birdie loved to play bingo with her sisters and enjoyed horseracing, especially the Kentucky Derby. She worked many years at various nursing homes. She treasured her family and will be dearly missed.

Birdie was born on May 3, 1946 in Casey County, Kentucky, to the late William T. and Myrtle M. (Coleman) Greer. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Wilima Stinnitt, and brother, Curtis Greer.

She is survived by her children, Jody M. Greer, Katheryn A. Greer, Dorothy F. Guffey, and John L. Guffey, siblings, Betty Gordon, Carolyn Miller, Johnny Greer, Eugene Greer, Phylis Tolan, Brenda Jaremeczuk, Evelyn Saldana, Barbara Sue Perdue, William T. Greer, Jr., Phillip W. Greer, Jr., and Dorthy Hannah; 13 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12 to 8 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 11 AM. Her Funeral Service will be at 1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery in Sellersburg, Indiana.
