Robert Charles “R.C.” Strong, 71, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on January 7, 1955, near Indianola, Mississippi, Robert was the son of Issac Charles “I.C.” Strong and Julia Strong.
Robert dedicated over 35 years of service to Carton Craft Inc (now Graphic Packaging Inc), where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. His long-standing commitment to his profession reflected the same steadfastness he brought to every aspect of his life.
A man of faith, Robert was a Christian and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. His spiritual foundation guided him through life’s challenges and triumphs alike.
Robert did not play games, he watched them. He was a die-hard fan of the University of Louisville Cardinals and followed the Cleveland Cavaliers and Baltimore Ravens with passion. Whether it was game day or just another evening at home, he could often be found channel surfing or enjoying rap music while preparing one of his favorite meals in the kitchen. Cooking brought him joy, and he took pride in sharing that joy with others.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Felicia Gant (Fred), Tamika Townes (Nathan), and Montia Barker (Ashia); grandchildren, Jareone Ferguson-Gant, Mic'Quoya Johnson, Jamari Gant, and Montavius Barker; siblings, Ophelia Hoskins, Katie Edwards, and Jessie Strong and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Issac Charles “I.C.” Strong and Julia Strong; sisters, Josephine Myrick and Louise Munson; and Shelby Jean Townes.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him—through shared meals, favorite songs on the radio, and every game watched with enthusiasm.
May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
A Visitation will be held on February 16, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home 10304 Dixie Highway Louisville, KY 40272, with a funeral service to immediately follow.
