Robert Patrick O'Hara, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 13, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, after a lingering illness. Born on June 12, 1961, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Robert was known and cherished by many as a man of kindness, humor, and unwavering generosity.
A proud graduate of Southern High School, Robert’s talents and work ethic quickly led him to a long and accomplished career. He served as a Master Electrician at the Kentucky International Convention Center for over two decades, earning the respect and camaraderie of his colleagues and contributing skill and dedication to every project he undertook. Within those halls, his reputation for being able to fix anything—no matter how complex—became legendary, matched only by the wit and good humor he shared freely with all who worked alongside him.
Robert’s passion for mechanics and invention was evident in all areas of his life. He was a true craftsman, never hesitating to tackle a new challenge or pursuit. His love for cars was well-known, and he delighted in collecting and restoring them. Whether it was metal crafting, inventing, or lending a hand with repairs, Robert’s hands were rarely idle, and his clever ingenuity brightened many days.
To those close to him, Robert was much more than a skilled tradesman. He was a steadfast neighbor and friend; always there with a joke, a story, or a helping hand. His generosity had no bounds, and his happiness was infectious. His unique blend of humor—at once witty and playfully sarcastic—was the hallmark of family gatherings and neighborhood conversations.
Robert’s legacy lives on through his loved ones. He is survived by his devoted mother, Pat O'Hara; his caring sister, Cathy Hill; his nephew, Nicholas Hill (Hilary Muldoon); his uncle, Dennis O'Hara; and aunt, Ginny O'Hara. He was preceded in death by his father, Mickey O'Hara; his grandparents, James and Virginia O'Hara; and his uncle, Patrick O'Hara.
The O'Hara family will receive friends and loved ones during visitation on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A funeral service honoring Robert’s life will take place at the same location on July 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
All who knew Robert Patrick O'Hara will remember the laughter he shared, the wisdom he lent, and the warmth of his company. His spirit, shaped by joy, generosity, and a remarkable gift for connecting with others, will be fondly cherished in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
