Robert J. Naville, 90, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, died Monday, August 6, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was a life-long member of St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church where he was active in many of the church ministries. Mount St. Francis was a special place for Bob where he also assisted in many events. Bob was a U. S. Navy veteran. He retired from Smith Transfer (Huber and Huber) after 42 years of service. Bob inspired everyone who knew him with his kind and gentle concern. He lived with devotion to the Catholic faith and his family. He leaves a legacy of faith, strength, loyalty, and service to others.
Bob was born on January 14, 1928, in Floyd County, Indiana, to the late Edward J. and Clara E. (Smith) Naville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Loi; brothers, Servanus and Bernard Naville; and sister, Mary Freiberger Becht.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Irene C. (Hess) Naville; daughters, Jill Rowe and Judy Cooper (Tracy); sons, Bob II (Jenni) and Bill (Pam) Naville; sister, Dolores Spitznagel; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and long-time neighbors.
Visitation is 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). The Funeral Mass celebration is at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church (7500 Navilleton Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119) followed by military honors and burial in the church cemetery.
