Robert William Meurer

Robert William "Bob" Meurer, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020. Bob was a proud veteran of the US Navy and was retired from the former Old Fitzgerald Distillery in Louisville. He liked to bowl and was the jokester of the family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was born on July 27, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Robert A. and Virginia (Heizen) Meurer. Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Shelia Hutchison; father and mother-in-law, Victor and Goldie Payton; and great-grandchild, Keaton Hutchison.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda (Payton) Meurer; son, Robert R. (Melissa) Meurer; grandchildren, Amber (Michael) Snelling, Dustin (Sarah) Hutchison, Cody (Olivia) Hutchison, and Jordan Meurer; great-grandchildren, Taylor McClellan, Braiden Murphy, Savannah McClellan, Jasmine Hutchison, Aiden Hutchison, and Iszale Hutchison; sister, Cathy "Kitty" (Jim) Brown and brother, Carl (Teresa) Meurer.

Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, all services will be kept private. Masks must be worn if you have been asked by the family to attend. He will be laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.

The family requests that contributions in Bob's memory be made to Alzheimer's Association.
