Robert Adler Metcalf, Jr

Robert Adler Metcalf, Jr., age 55, of Louisville, Kentucky, unexpectedly returned to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Among those that preceded him in death are his maternal grandparents; Alvin and Marie Kleinhenz; his paternal grandparents; Adler Hoskinson and Alexandra Petrovna Metcalf, his Godmother/Aunt, Nancy Metcalf; his Godfather/Uncle, Michael Kleinhenz; his Friend/Cousin, Mark Robey and his former Father-in-law, Jerry Don.

Rob leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Brandi Michelle Hawylrak, who was his true pride and joy; his parents, Robert and Beverly Metcalf; his two younger brothers, James Metcalf (Jennifer) and Jeff Metcalf (Bridgette); his nephews, Patrick Rice (Makayla) and Turner Metcalf; his nieces, Macy Metcalf, Allye Metcalf and Teagan Metcalf; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins; and Jax, who was his beloved golden retriever and constant companion; all whom he deeply loved.

Rob was born on May 13, 1970 in Louisville, Kentucky. He moved from Louisville to Tennessee with his family and then to Texas after he was in middle school, graduated high school at Arlington High School and took classes at University of Texas.

Rob was a gifted learner at an early age in school and retained knowledge quite easily. He forewent the traditional college path and preferred the hands-on learning approach. He excelled at math in school and loved working with his hands and being outdoors. Rob was a man’s man and considered himself to be a jack of all trades. In his early working career, he became a journeyman carpenter, under the watchful eye of his Dad, learning all aspects of construction. After a summer job in an engineering department in Texas, he finally found his true passion. He was given the chance to train under Boeing Aircraft. Quickly he went up the ranks from design engineering to quality engineering as a Project Manager. With his experience he spent lots of time in Texas, Virginia and a year abroad in Japan.

Being a Kentucky boy at heart, Rob eventually found his way back to Louisville. In search for something different in life, he was offered a position by Jeff, to join MetFinancial Group. He worked alongside Jeff for the last 9 years as an insurance independent broker.

Rob always considered himself to be a true protector of family and friends. He always had a happy smile on his face and was willing and eager to help anyone or whoever was in need. Rob was a real jokester at heart and always held a true presence in the room. His quick humor and wit telling jokes (sometimes a bit off-color) and life stories always ended with his big hearty laugh.

Rob had a lifelong passion for all athletic sports from baseball to golf to boating. From his early childhood and as an adult, he enjoyed fishing with his Dad, James and Jeff throughout Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas. He especially enjoyed his trips down at the family camp at Rough River with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He had a special relationship with his fishing buddies, Grandma Marie, his Uncle Mike, and his Uncle Bruce and that’s where a lot of the fishing stories began. His Dad taught him the basics of gun safety and shooting small game. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting in Texas with his former father-in-law, Jerry Don, who taught him the skills of hunting deer. He also accomplished his main goal of making sure that his Dad shot his first Buck.

Rob was truly a joy to have in our lives and we will miss him terribly each and every single day.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Southeast Christian Church Chapel in the Woods (1407 Moser Road Louisville, Kentucky 40299) Visitation: 12:00-2:00pm with a service beginning at 2:00pm. There will be a receptions in the Fireside Reception from 3:00-5:00pm (this building is across the street from the Chapel).
