Robert Daniel Lyons, age 96, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017. He was born in Susquehanna, PA, on September 9, 1920 and resided for many years in Rochester, New York. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army, Signal Corp Company 3163 in the European Theater. Following his discharge from the Army, Robert became a teaching Christian Brother at All Hollows High School in the Bronx, New York and Iona Preparatory School. After resigning from the Christian Brothers, he resumed his professional career at General Railway Signal, where he met his wife Jeannette and where he worked until he retired in 1982. He was the third generation of a railroad family. At the time of his retirement, he was a Manager of International Projects. Robert was preceded in death by the love of his life, Jeannette Lyons; his parents, James and Mary Lyons; his siblings, Edward and Mary Jane.
Robert is survived by his loving children, James Lyons (Jana) and Barbara World (George); grandchildren, Terri, Matthew, Katie, Michael, Jonathan, Jessica, Charlie and Jeannette; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 2-8pm Monday, July 10, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. A Mass of Celebration will be 10am Tuesday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40222. Burial will be in Robert's home town of Rochester, New York at 10am on Friday, July 14th next to his beloved in White Haven Memorial Park there.
