Robert L. Young Sr.

Robert Lee Young Sr. peacefully crossed over to be with the Lord on March 26, 2016. He was born on July 29, 1943 to the late Thomas Williams and Margaret Young here in Louisville, Kentucky at Old General Hospital.

Robert was a son, nephew, cousin, big brother, father and grandfather. Also known as papaw, big Robert, big unc. He was a friend and faithful husband of 37 years. He was one who could always be found with a water jug and one of his many guns in his hand being cleaned.

His hobbies were fishing, cooking, watching western movies and of course enjoying the U of L Cardinals playing ball. Roberts jobs include being a chef at two of the finest hotels in Louisville: The Brown and The Hyatt Regency. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service.

Robert is preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and a daughter.

He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife Joyce of 37 years and his ten children; Deborah (Joe) Cleasant, Robert L. Young Jr, Anthony, Joan, Marsha, Linda (Walter) Perry, Calvin (Dana) Young, Henry (Tijana) Fletcher Jr, Larry (Leslie) Fletcher, 32 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one aunt/ best friend Erma (Willie) Scottland and five sisters: LaVerne Downs, Joan Weaver, Delores (Arthur) Knight, Revoidia Williams, Yolonda Williams as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 235 Juneau Drive Louisville, Kentucky 40243.

His home going celebration will be on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
