Robert J. "Shorty" Shaver, 75, of Lanesville, Indiana, passed away on July 10, 2016, in New Albany, Indiana. Shorty was born in Simpsonville, Kentucky, on March 7, 1941. He retired from Invensys Ltd. and then worked for Bumper to Bumper. Shorty was an avid UK fan and enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Belva (Taylor) Gant. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley (Miles) Shaver; children, Sandy Watson (Larry), Chuck Shaver (Wendy), and Terri Gayhart (Jeff); siblings, Thomas (Ida), Lloyd, and William (Linda) Shaver, Charlene Ernst (Jim), and Damon Gant; 8 grandchildren, Jamie (Cindy), Christy, Amy, Tyler (Whitney), Brittney (Andrew), Chris, DJ, and Dylan; and 8 great-grandchildren.

His visitation will be on Thursday, July 14, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with visitation before from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana.
