Robert Ian Donaldson – 29 – Louisville, Kentucky (formerly Okemos, MI), passed away on October 1, 2016 after a long courageous battle with clear cell renal cancer. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 8, 1987 to John and Terry (Strong) Donaldson.

He attended Okemos Public Schools and participated in youth hockey and the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 2005. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a Master's degree from the University of Louisville. He taught math and coached softball at Moore Traditional High School and math at Ballard High School, Louisville. He was involved with Special Days Camps, a camp for children with cancer and their siblings, as a camper and as a counselor. Rob loved his family and friends, teaching, Special Days, and was an avid sports fan especially of the Detroit Red Wings, the Green Bay Packers and MSU sports. He will forever be a proud Spartan.

Robert is survived by his parents, brothers Shawn of Bath, MI and Colin of Okemos, MI, grandmother Dorothy Donaldson of Lansing MI, and many beloved uncles, aunts and cousins. During his life he created many lifelong friendships with fellow teachers and childhood friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rex Donaldson and Robert and Dolores Strong and brother, Eric Donaldson.

A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held in Louisville on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at the Aero Club Center 3333 Roger E. Schupp Street, Louisville, KY 40205.

A Celebration in Michigan will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 1 - 4 PM at Country House Catering 3056 Okemos Road Mason, MI. www.countryhousecatering.net

Robert spent nearly 20 years, first as a camper (child with a sibling with cancer) and then as a camp counselor at this camp with is devoted to children with cancer, and siblings of children with cancer.
