Robert Douglas Gammons

Robert Douglas Gammons, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on August 27, 2026, in New Albany at the age of 76. He was born on February 7, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky.

He attended classes at Mew Albany High School and went on to work at PC Building for numerous years. Through the years, Robert built a life defined by dedication and dependability, and he carried himself with a humility that left a lasting impression on others.

Robert found happiness in everyday pleasures. He enjoyed walking, watching movies, working puzzles, playing games and cards, and attending the races at Church Hill. He loved being outdoors and took comfort in nature. He also had a special love for animals, especially cats and dogs, and his beloved cat, Spot, held a cherished place in his heart.

He is survived by his mother, Hazel Gammons, and by his sisters, Carolyn Sue Lyons, Shelley Denison, Ramona Luther, and Susan Wease. He also leaves behind the many memories he shared as a loving brother, uncle, and friend, memories that will continue to be treasured by those who were blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Gammons.

Robert’s life was one of quiet goodness and gentle strength. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
