Robert E. Foster, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 26, 2026, in Louisville. He was born on April 16, 1949, in Enterprise, Alabama.
Mr. Foster will be remembered as a man of few words who was always smiling. His quiet presence and warm spirit left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He built a life marked by steady work and simple joys, and he was appreciated for the kindness and calm he carried with him.
He retired from the University of Louisville, where he worked in Environmental Services. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing and traveling, pastimes that brought him happiness and gave him opportunities to spend time doing what he loved.
He is survived by his grandson, Koree Foster; his granddaughter, Johanna Foster; his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Foster; his brother, Jimmy Lee Foster; his sisters, Ella Marie Hutcherson and Bestye Sue Henry (Arthur); his brother-in-law, Archie Shelley, Jr. (Trudy); and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Cordia Foster; his sons, Robert E. Foster, Jr. and Robert L. Foster; his father, John Foster; his mother, Susie Foster; his brother, John Foster; his sisters, Cynthia Duncan and Edna Peoples; and his grandparents who raised him, Bestye Hooas and John Hooas.
Robert E. Foster will be remembered with love by his family and by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life, his smile, and the quiet strength of his presence will not be forgotten.
