Robert Eugene Deporter, Sr.

Robert Eugene DePorter, Sr. (Bob), Pop to his family, aged 94 met his Lord face to face on March 31st 2022 in Louisville Kentucky. He was born to Edward and Mabel DePorter in Dayton Ohio on December the 7th 1927. The family lived in Ohio, Kentucky, Texas and finally moved to Florida where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Atlanta Christian College where he met his lovely wife Dorothy. While living in Memphis Bob also taught school sharing his love of history and the Bible with Jr High and High School students. After faithfully serving for over 30 years in Virginia, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee, he retired from ministry in 1989. Retirement provided opportunities for the many things he enjoyed like traveling across the country with good friends, painting, gardening, golfing, playing with grandchildren and solving jig saw puzzles. He especially loved spending time on the beach in Florida. Bob served his Lord and loved his family with his whole heart. Everyone who knew him was truly blessed by his gentle spirit and warm friendly smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mabel DePorter, his sister, Doris D. Day, and his much loved daughter-in-law Debbie DePorter.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy DePorter; his son, Eugene DePorter; his daughter, Janene DePorter Buckles (Lynn); 4 grandchildren, Dani Harris (Tim), Mallory DePorter, Joseph Buckles and Corrie Buckles; and one very special great-grandson, Thatcher Harris; and a host of relatives and friends.

A service celebrating Bob's life will be held 4:00 PM on Friday April 8th at Southeast Christian Church (Crestwood Campus), 6201 Crestwood Station, Crestwood, KY. Visitation will precede the service on April the 8th from 2:00-4:00 PM.
