Robert John Crittendon, affectionately known as “Boo,” passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on December 26, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by his devoted family.

Born on August 19, 1938, in Janesville, Wisconsin, Bob lived a remarkable life defined by unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and a generous spirit that touched everyone he met.

Bob shared 57 cherished years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandra Burgess Crittendon, creating a partnership that was the foundation of their family’s strength and joy. He was the steadfast rock for his children, always ready with wisdom, positivity, encouragement, and quiet acts of kindness that made ordinary moments feel extraordinary.

A man of deep faith, Bob was a longtime parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. His commitment extended to coaching young athletes at Mother of Good Counsel Parish, where his children attended school, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives through his guidance and enthusiasm.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for six years, where he also excelled as a basketball player. He continued his love for the sport at Jacksonville University. Later in life, he embraced a bold career change at age 55, becoming a dedicated financial advisor with UBS for 20 years, where his integrity, knowledge, and genuine care for clients earned him enduring respect.

An avid sports enthusiast, Bob cheered passionately for the Green Bay Packers and University of Kentucky basketball. His zest for life, quick smile, and boundless generosity will forever live on in the hearts he touched.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Winifred Welbon; his sister-in-law, Carol Welbon; and others dear to him.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his three children: Heather Mattingly (Tim), Holli Bicker (David), and Sean Crittendon (Tori); his 10 grandchildren: Meghan McIntosh (Bailey), Joshua Mattingly, Jacob Mattingly, Schae Bicker, Preston Bicker, Palmer Bicker, Sophie Bicker, Elle Crittendon, Ian Crittendon, and Andi Crittendon; his great-granddaughter, Campbell McIntosh; his brother, Dale “Fritz” Welbon; and several nieces and nephews.

Per Bob’s wishes, cremation was chosen, with private family services to be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bob’s memory to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mass of the Air or Sanders-Brown Center on Aging UK College of Medicine.
