Robert Joe Cottrell, 89, of La Grange, Kentucky passed away on September 5, 2019.
Robert served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired from International Harvester. He enjoyed lathe craftsmanship, welding and creative fabrications.
Robert was born on September 4, 1930 in Sonora, Kentucky to the late Dewey Cottrell and Hattie Puckett Gruner. He is also preceded in death by his younger brother, Ronald Cottrell.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia Lee (McCarver) Cottrell; children, Gary Joe Cottrell (Sandra), Phillip Lee Cottrell and Damion Lewis Cottrell (Christina); sister, Betty Jane Ellis; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243), A funeral service to honor the life of Robert will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (2416 KY-53, La Grange, KY 40031).
