Robert Leroy Cahoon, 88, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Born on August 15, 1937, in New Bern, North Carolina, Bob lived a life marked by dedication, service, and deep commitment to both family and community.

Bob was the son of William and Beverly (Clark) Cahoon and in addition to his parents, was predeceased by his siblings, William, Charles and Onyx. His journey began with a firm foundation in education, earning his Bachelor's Degree from Mercy University in Macon, Georgia, followed by further studies at the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. These academic achievements laid the groundwork for a fulfilling career devoted to leadership and management.

Bob retired from South Central Bell, where he notably contributed through his role in Distribution Management. Beyond his professional life, he immersed himself in community service and numerous organizations. His affiliations included the Telephone Pioneers, Lions Club, and Civil Air Patrol, through which he demonstrated a steadfast commitment to volunteerism. Bob generously offered his time and energy to various causes, volunteering at the Louisville Zoo, Kentucky State Fair, the Love Center, and notably, the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Bob received several prestigious honors. These included the Finis & David Fellow Award, the Humanitarian Services Award from the Kentucky Lions Club Foundation, and the distinguished title of Kentucky Colonel. These accolades reflect the high esteem in which he was held by his peers and the community.

He was married to his wife Jacqueline (Powell) Cahoon for 62 remarkable years. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes their children, Shawn Cahoon (Carson Reed), James Cahoon (Angela) and Diane Moon. Bob’s legacy extends through his grandchildren: Marshall Cahoon (Shana); Logan Cahoon (Caitlin); Isabelle Cahoon; and Annabelle Reed. His joy was further enriched by his great-grandchildren, Maddox and Chrysanthemum.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, he was cremated, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in New Albany was entrusted with his care.
