Robert "Bob" W. Adams, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 94. Born on July 31, 1930, in Sellersburg, Indiana, Bob lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family and community.
A proud graduate of Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg, class of 1949, Bob embarked on a long and distinguished career shortly after graduation. He began his professional journey at Colgate Palmolive Company, where he worked as a computer programmer for an impressive 34 years before retiring. Retirement, however, did not mark the end of his working life; Bob continued to contribute to his community by taking on part-time work at Louisville Auto Auction.
Bob was deeply rooted in his faith and was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Sellersburg, Indiana. His commitment to the church was one of his proudest accomplishments, reflecting his dedication and service to his spiritual home.
Throughout his life, Bob had many interests and hobbies that brought him joy. He cherished RV travel with his wife, Emma Lou Adams, with whom he shared 74 wonderful years of marriage. Bob also had a passion for gardening, being known as a "green thumb," and he was always the go-to person for fixing things around the house, earning himself the affectionate title of "Mr. Fix It." He took great pride in supporting his favorite team, IU Basketball, and his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family.
Bob's legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Emma Lou Adams; his children, Debbie Adams Schafer, Tony Adams (Deanna Hill), and Suzi (Bentley) Adams Bruner; as well as grandchildren Traci (Matt) Warren, Trevor (Allison) Adams, Daniel (Courtney) Schafer, Adam Bruner, and Angie (Doug) Stohler. He was also a proud grandfather of 12 great-grandchildren and a father-in-law to Brenda Adams. His family, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, will carry his memories and values forward.
Bob is preceded in death by his son, Denny Adams; his parents, Carl "Mose" and Eleanor Adams; and his sister, Mary Jean Graf. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, yet his spirit will live on in the stories we share and the love he fostered within his family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Mass at 1:00 PM at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, located at 2253 West Saint Joe Road, Sellersburg, Indiana. The family invites all who knew and loved Bob to join them in celebrating his remarkable life.
The family requests that contributions in Bob’s memory be made to St. John Paul II Catholic Church or Hosparus.
