Rita Lucille Wakefield

March 11, 1952 — July 5, 2017

Rita Lucille Wakefield was born on March 11, 1952 to Anne Edwards Anthony and James Anthony in Louisville, Kentucky. She was raised here in Louisville with her sister Shirley Archie (Deceased).

She married Allen Quincy Wakefield Sr. (Deceased) on November 4th 1996 by Rev. Ronald E. Lockridge. Together they had 3 children Renika Thomas (Edward Thomas), Mark Wakefield (Lamonica Holder), and Donte Wakefield.

Rita was known for her quiet and humble spirit, her passion for children and her love for Jesus Christ. She always had a kind word and a song in her heart. She passed away peacefully at Jewish Hospital on July 5th 2017, surrounded by family and friends singing and praising God.

She leaves behind her children, Renika Thomas (Edward Thomas), Mark Wakefield (Lamonica Holder), Donte Wakefield, Her nieces, nephew, grandchildren, great grandchild, great grand dogs, as well as church family and friends. Rita Wakefield will truly be missed. She touched the lives of so many people and we are thankful for the time we were able to spend with her.

Visitation for Rita Wakefield will be on July 15th 2017 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church 1026 Dixie Hwy Louisville, KY. 40210. The wake will be at 1:00p.m. and the funeral will immediately follow at 2:00p.m.
